James Dean ate regularly at the Old Borunda Cafe in Marfa, TX while on location shooting Giant (1956). It was run by Carolina Borunda who served only this one dish (with a side bowl of beans, and Fritos Corn Chips and sliced white bread on the table). He enjoyed this meal and it’s also a favorite of mine. The Old Borunda Cafe opened in 1887 and closed 100 years later. Carolina’s grandson Pancho now runs a reincarnated version of the restaurant in Marfa, serving this dish (and a few others).
